Located on Bajirao Road in the old city, Akshardhara Book Gallery is one of the most famous book galleries in Pune and is dedicated to promote reading and love for Marathi Literature amongst the masses. The store started off as an exhibition by Ramesh Rathiwadeka in 1994, and has since then created a platform where readers engage with Marathi literature through author meetings, seminars, workshops and of course, books. Akshardhara Book Gallery

Founded in 1994, this bookshop and gallery is a haven for lovers of Marathi literature in Pune, and has been awarded Bookshop of the Year by the Publishing Next Industry Awards. Started in 1994 by Ramesh Rathiwadekar, Akshardhara book gallery is one of the most popular bookshops for Marathi literature in Pune, with its main branch located in the bustling Shukrawar Peth area. In 2017, it was announced as the Bookshop of the Year by the Publishing Next Industry Awards. Although it initially operated just as a bookstore, Akshardhara was turned into a spacious book gallery in 2011 to accommodate its increasing footfall.
